Watch I Heart My Church

We take a moment to consider what's our part in moving life forward toward God's best. Together, we can do this by keeping our promises.

Message Review

Main points and scriptures from this week's message.

Psalm 69:9 (NIV)
Zeal for your house consumes me.

  • Who Jesus is

Jesus is God who came in the form of man. He is the expression of God’s extravagant love and favor. He was perfect in all of his ways.  He was without sin. The reason this mattered so much was that his sinless, perfect life became a gift to all of us who are imperfect people. He took our sin and gave us his righteousness. A free gift of salvation to all who receive him and believe on him.

Knowing who Jesus is then explains who we are...

  • Who we are

We are the children of God. We are adopted into Gods family. We are his sons and daughters. We are members of his household.

Jesus calls us “the light of the world” and “the salt of the earth.”

Knowing who we are then explains why we are here...
  • Why we're here

We’re here to be a light in the darkness and to bring hope to the hopeless. Collectively, we make up what Jesus calls his church. His church is the hope of the world.

The New Testament is where the church began. Jesus started the church, he loved the church and handed it over to the disciples to continue planting churches in every town and city. Many of the books that make up the New testament were written to local churches. Today, Jesus is building his church, and Champions Centre is a local expression of Gods church. We are not here for ourselves…we’re here as an expression of Gods church. The Church is not here for us. We are the church and we are here for the world.

Ephesians 1:23 (MSG)
The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ's body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

  • Our new updated and fresh mission statement is to Move Life Forward towards God's best.
  • We Move Life Forward in all areas of our lives. (Relationally, Emotionally, Physically, and Spiritually)

Our Promises

  1. Express Life
  2. Keep Advancing
  3. Consider Everyone

Message Discussion Questions

The following questions will help guide your discussions and give your group some opportunities to open up and share.

  • If someone asked you to tell them in less than one minute who you think Jesus is, what would you tell them?
  • If the same person who asked you who Jesus is then asked you who you are, what would you tell them?
  • Why is the church here for the world?
  • We Move Life Forward: relationally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. What area of your life do you most want to move forward?
  • One of our promises is that we will "Consider Everyone". In what ways can you better consider everyone?
  • Another promise is that we "Express Life". What does this mean to you?
  • Another promise is that we will "Keep Advancing". Why should the church maintain this mentality?

Live It Out

Encourage your group to start doing. Commit to a step, and live it out this week.

  • This week consider at least one person and invite them to church.
  • Come up with a list of three things you can do to help the church keep advancing.
  • Develop a habit of praying for Champions Centre and the rest of God's Church. Pray that it keep advancing and continue to reach people locally and across the world.

Closing Thoughts

  • Finish group with prayer requests and praise reports.
