Message Review
Main points and scriptures from this week's message.
1 Samuel 16:1 (NIV)
The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”
We looked at the various generations:
Traditionalists | 1923–44 (Ages 72–93)
Baby Boomers | 1945–64 (Ages 52–71)
Generation X | 1961–1981 (Ages 33–51)
Millennials | 1982–2004 (Ages 12–32)
1) God is looking for leaders
1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:11–13 (NIV)
So he asked Jesse, "Are these all the sons you have?" "There is still the youngest," Jesse answered. "He is tending the sheep." Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down until he arrives."
So he sent for him and had him brought in. He was glowing with health and had a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the Lord said, “Rise and anoint him; this is the one.”
So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on, the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon David.
2) It's what's inside that counts.
We then talked about Stephan Curry's faith.3) Leadership is not something you push your way into. It's something your prepare yourself for.
So many people see where they are as a place to wait for the next opportunity to come along.
4) To lead is to serve.
5) Leaders are owners.
We talked about a young high school senior in our church named Jovon.
Acts 13:36 (NIV)
"Now when David had served God's purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep;

- Would you consider yourself to be a leader? Why or why not?
- Are you satisfied with where you are right now? Why or why not?
- "If you are too big to serve, then you are too little to lead." Why do you think this is, or is not true?
- What we are doing now is preparing us for what is next. What are you doing now that is preparing you for what is next?
- Are you in a holding pattern or are you actively preparing yourself for what is next by doing everything you can to the best of your abilities?

Live It Out
Encourage your group to start doing. Commit to a step, and live it out this week.
- When you see a successful person, try to consider or even research what they had to go though in order to get there. Make this a habit when you start to envy the success of others.
- Journal about your patience. Write down when you find yourself becoming anxious and be sure to focus on what you are doing in that moment to calm your anxiety.
- To lead is to serve. Sign up to serve on a team at Champions Centre. cc.church/serve.
