MESSAGE REVIEW
Main points and scriptures from this week's message.
Mark 10:46–52 (NKJV)
Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging.
And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called. Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”
And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?” The blind man said to Him, “Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
Point 1: Shame will always reference you from your lowest level.
Point 2: Don't miss an opportunity because of an opinion.
Point 3: My condition is not my conclusion!
Point 4: Jesus stood still.
MESSAGE DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
The following questions will help guide your discussions and give your group some opportunities to open up and share.
- Bartimaeus, was known for his blindness. Have you ever felt like you were known for your shortcomings or mistakes
- Bartimaeus was begging, asking for money, but then when Jesus came by he began to ask for mercy. Is it possible that you are asking for the wrong thing when it comes to your prayers?
- Have you ever fallen off of the road, the path that God has for you? If so, how did you get back on track?
- How do the opinions of others keep you from missing out on opportunities?
- How do you know which opinions to listen to, and which ones not to listen to?
- When Jesus called for Bartimaeus, he responded and did what Jesus asked. If Jesus were calling for you right now, what do you think he would ask you to do or to give up in order to answer His call?
LIVE IT OUT
