Message Review
Main points and scriptures from this week's message.
POINT 1: A GOD-CENTRED LIFE LEADS TO A BALANCED AND BLESSED LIFE.
Some people are afraid to have a God-centered life because they feel that God doesn’t care about them being happy, or having the things they want and need in life. But scripture teaches us that God knows what we needs and wants to provide them.
Matthew 6:31–33 (NIV)
So do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
POINT 2: ALL OTHER RELATIONSHIPS IN YOUR LIFE ARE BETTER WHEN GOD IS AT THE CENTER.
Do not look at your relationships as a list, but see your relationships as a wheel, with God at the center. With God at the center and everything else revolving around God, all other relationships will be better and benefit from it.
Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
POINT 3: GOD AT THE CENTER MEANS THAT IN MY RELATIONSHIPS, I WILL CHOOSE GOD’S WAY AND GOD’S THOUGHTS OVER MY WAY AND MY THOUGHTS.
God's ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.
TALK-IT-OUT
The following questions will help guide your discussions and give your group some opportunities to open up and share.
- Do you feel like you currently place God at the center of ALL your relationships? Explain.
- God tells us not to worry. What do you worry about most?
- Can you remember a time when you chose your way instead of God's way? How did it work out?
- Do you have a relationship with something or someone that you need to place God at the center?
- In what way can you better seek God's kingdom, and His righteousness first?
- Part of a relationship is knowing someone. Share three things you know about God.
WRITE-It-Out
Encourage your group to starting writing things down. In a journal or on paper, write down the following:
- Create a wheel. In the center of the wheel draw a small circle and write, "God." On the outer circle of the wheel list all the important relationships and things in your life that you want God to be the center of.
- Create a second wheel. In the center of the wheel draw a small circle and write. "God." On the outer circle of the wheel write down every word you can think of to describe who God is.
- Write down a prayer that you have this week.
Live-It-Out
Encourage your group to start doing. Commit to a step, and live it out this week.
- Every morning ask God who it is that He wants you to connect with. Ask Him what relationship He wants to grow that day. Open up your heart for who it is that God put will put there. Then reach out to that person before the day is over.
- Complete the Growth Track. This occurs every Sunday at 11:30, and you can jump in any time. This week is session two, which is all about knowing your church.
- Serve together as a group. Every month, we have serving opportunities with Champions Foundation. To view the calendar of events, click HERE
