Message Review

Main points and scriptures from this week's message.

Chris Brown, our guest speaker, came to give us some direction on personal finances. At Champions Centre, we aim to help move life forward toward God's best for our lives, and often, finances and money can be an area that is holding us back from that. So it is vital that we see what God has to say about the subject and make efforts to get better in that area.

Point 1: Personal Finance is not a MONEY thing but a HEART thing.

5 Ways We Can Get Positioned

1. LIVE ON A WRITTEN BUDGET.

Proverb 29:18
Where there is no revelation, people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdomʼs instruction.

Luke 14:28
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Wonʼt you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it?

2. GET OUT OF DEBT AND STAY OUT OF DEBT.

Proverb 22:7
The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.

Romans 13:8
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law.

3. CULTIVATE AND MAINTAIN QUALITY RELATIONSHIPS.

1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

4. SAVE AND INVEST.

Proverb 21:20
The wise store up choice food and olive oil,
but fools gulp theirs down.·

5. BE INCREDIBLY GENEROUS.

Proverbs 11:25 “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”

TALK-IT-OUT

  • What healthy relationships do you currently have?
  • Do you have an emergency fund saved?
  • What out of the teaching this weekend are you going to apply into your finances?
