Message Review

Main points and scriptures from this week's message.

So many great things have happened at Champions Centre. Many have found Jesus here, many have met life long friends here, and a lot of people have been baptized here. Some grew up coming to Champions Centre, and some have even met their spouses here.

Thinking about all that should make you want to say, "I HEART MY CHURCH."

Psalm 69:9 (NIV)
Zeal for your house consumes me . . .

Proverb 29:18 (KJV)
Where there is no vision, the people perish . . .

We hope that this weekend's message stirred your passion and zeal for God's house.

First, we have to start with some basics.

POINT 1: WHO JESUS IS

Jesus is God who came in the form of man. He was perfect in all of his ways and without sin. The reason this mattered so much was that his sinless, perfect life became a gift to all of us who are imperfect people. He took our sin and gave us his righteousness. A free gift of salvation to all who receive him and believe on him.

POINT 2: WHO WE ARE

We are the children of God. We are adopted into God's family. We are his sons and daughters. We are members of his household.

POINT 3: WHY WE’RE HERE

We’re here to be a light in the darkness and to bring hope to the hopeless. Collectively, we make up what Jesus calls his church. His church is the hope of the world. But, The Church is not here for us. We are the church, and we are here for the world.

POINT 4: OUR MISSION STATEMENT IS TO MOVE LIFE FORWARD TOWARD GOD’S BEST.

This means that WE ARE FAITH-FILLED, BIG-THINKING, RISK-TAKING PEOPLE!!

When we started, we had 1 campus, 1 weekend service, a few hundred seats, 2 classrooms, and 300 attenders. Today, we have 2 campuses and 1 online campus. At our 2 campuses, there are 3000 seats, 23 classrooms, 5 weekend services for 8000 attenders.

OUR vision IS to add more campuses and be in more communities.

When you walk into our building or visit our website, you will see our Progress Icon.

It represents several things. First, that our church will be a catalyst to build our lives with Christ as the foundation for all areas of life. Those areas we have identified as being relationally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

OUR PROMISES: We have made 3 promises. Our promises capture who we are, who we’ve always been, and the future that we will protect.

As a church, we have come up with 3 Promises:

1) EXPRESS LIFE: SWE WILL BE LIFE-GIVING, EXPRESSIVE, AND PASSIONATE IN OUR WORSHIP AND LIFE GROUPS.

2) KEEP ADVANCING: WE WILL BE VISION-FUELED, FAITH-FILLED, AND ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD.

3) CONSIDER EVERYONE: WE WILL BE GENEROUS IN GESTURE AND AFFIRM EVERYONE AS SOMEONE DEEPLY LOVED BY GOD.

If you want to move your life forward and to move church forward, commit to these promises with us.

TALK-IT-OUT

The following questions will help guide your discussions and give your group some opportunities to open up and share.

  • Talk about the things that have happened to you while you have been at Champions Centre that you are thankful for.
  • This weekend was also baptism weekend. Describe your baptism. Or if you have not been baptized, what is holding you back?
  • When you consider who Jesus is, and what he did for you, what emotions do you feel?
  • When you consider who Jesus is, and what he did for you, what actions do you feel like you should respond with? What should you do about what he did?
  • Pick one of our promises, and describe how you can help express it to others at Champions Centre.
  • What makes you excited about the vision of Champions Centre to have more campuses and reach more people?
