Message Review

Main points and scriptures from this week's message.

This weekend, Pastor Kevin shared with us how to release our portential, because it's our time and our turn.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 (CEV)
Everything on earth has its own time and its own season.

POINT 1: KNOW THAT YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO DO WHAT GOD HAS PLANNED FOR YOU TO DO.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness . . .

POINT 2: CONSULT YOUR CREATOR.

If you want to know the potential of an automobile, there’s a manual written by the creators of the automobile.

If you want to know your potential, the Bible is the manual written by the Creator.

Psalm 100:3 (NIV)
It is he who made us.

Colossians 1:16 (MSG)
Everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him

POINT 3: LEAN IN TO LEARN.

Proverb 4:7 (KJV)
Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

Proverb 4:20–22 (NIV)
My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.

POINT 4: WORK YOUR WORK.

Potential is released when you push past the resistance and insist on doing your work better than your doing it now.

POINT 5: SEE PAIN AS HAVING PURPOSE.

There’s some potential that can only be discovered and released in a time of trial.

POINT 6: MAKE THE MOST OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY.

We often don’t recognize opportunity, because it comes dressed in work clothes.

POINT 7: PRAY THE POTENTIAL.

Mark 11:24 (KJV)
. . . What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

POINT 8: BE A CONTRIBUTOR NOT A CONSUMER.

Releasing your potential means that you give what you have now to make room for God to give you more.

Leviticus 26:10 (NIV)
You will still be eating last year's harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new.

TALK-IT-OUT

The following questions will help guide your discussions and give your group some opportunities to open up and share.

  • Have you ever thought you could not release your potential, because you were lacking something? What was it you felt you were lacking?
  • Can you recall a time where you made the wrong decisions, because you failed to consult the Creator?
  • What pain in your life has God turned around to use for the good?
  • How can you be better at working your work? Be specific.
  • Is there an area that you want to go from being a consumer to a contributor?
  • What potential do you want to pray for? It could be for you or someone else.

WRITE-It-Out

Encourage your group to start writing things down. In a journal or on paper, do the following exercises.
