HOSTS
Make sure to start off with prayer. Open up group with this icebreaker:
What can you do to make someone’s day this week? Make them laugh? Make them smile?
TALK-IT-OUT
Open YouVersion and read: Nehemiah 8:5–10, Ecclesiastes 8:15, Luke 21:34, Psalm 100:1–2, 61:3, and 34:3
Main points from this week's message:
Make it Fun: Adding Joy to the Journey
Main Point: Generosity on your face
Talk-it-Out: Do people see you as friendly, approachable, happy by the expression on your face? If not, how can you be more intentional with our you present yourself and Christ?
Talk-it-Out: Have you ever expected someone or something to make you happy?
Main Point: Levity in your heart
If you practice levity in your heart, you will never lack for friends.
“Laugh, and the world laughs with you; Weep, and you weep alone.”–Ella Wheeler Wilcox
Talk-it-Out: How can you bring levity to a heavy situation? What tools can you use to lighten the mood?
Main Point: Praise in your mouth.
“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.”–Psalm 100:1–2 (KJV)
You have a song in your heart. There is rejoicing in you. There is a smile in you. Praise is about God.
Talk-it-Out: If you’re someone who has a difficult time making noise, raising your hands in praise that magnifies the Lord, what can you do to make generous praise a part of your everyday life?
WRITE-IT-OUT
Encourage your group to start writing things down. Do the following exercise:
Journal about the things that make you smile, make you happy, or make you laugh.
LIVE-IT-OUT
Praise displaces heaviness. Praise is fun. Praise is noisy. Practice some time every day praising God and watch heaviness leave.
