TALK-IT-OUT
Open YouVersion and read: 1 Corinthians 13:4–8
Main points from this week's message:
Love is an action, not a feeling. Love is having self-control. Love is patient. Love is serving others. Love has no strings attached. Love is having grace. Love is a selfless action.
Main Point: God wants us to know what love is.
Talk-it-Out: God wants us to be able to define love. If we aren’t able to, we’ll chase anything that makes us feel good. If love is so great, why do you think it’s so hard to give? To receive?
Main Point: God wants us to show what love is. Love is not truly known, until it is shown. Read Luke 10:25–37.
Talk-it-Out: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ Pastor Jonathan shared the story of the Good Samaritan. God wants us to go from knowing to showing love. Can you recall a time when you walked past an opportunity to show love?
Main Point: You can know how to turn a light on, but until you flip the switch, you will not have any power. The same is true with love--knowing love is great, but showing love is powerful.
Talk-it-Out: Every week we talk about joining a team. When you serve others and with others, you start to see how love is supposed to work and flow in your life. Until you give it freely, you won’t truly understand what love is and the power it has in your life. How different would our communities be if we went from knowing to showing? How can you find time in your schedule to attend Growth Track, host a Life Group, serve on a team, or partner with a Champions Foundation initiative?
Main Point: God wants us to receive love.
Talk-it-Out: Sometimes this can be the hardest part of love. We have a running record of reasons we don’t deserve the love of God... our sin, addictions, failures, and decisions we have made. We tell ourselves we don’t deserve it or we’re not a good enough Christian. What action do you need to take to be able to open up your life and receive the love that God so desperately wants you to have?
