TALK-IT-OUT

Open YouVersion and take turns reading: Ephesians 2:19, Habakkuk 2:2, Proverbs 29:18, Nehemiah 6:2-3

Main points from this week's message:

Moving Forward After a Setback

(A setback is defined as a loss of progress, the defeat of a plan, or a reversal of good fortune.)

Main Point: Refuse to focus on yourself, your problems, and your feelings.Refuse to focus on yourself, your problems, and your feelings.

Talk-it-Out: Our natural tendency when suffering a setback is to become self-focused. How we react and respond to a setback will determine how we move forward. Share a time when you did or didn’t respond in the best way during a setback.

Main Point: Be confident that God is in your setback and is working in the setback for your good.

Talk-it-Out: Even in the middle of bad things, God is working. That’s how He works! How can we learn from Joseph’s life of setbacks? How can they help us break out of the norm and move forward when we face a setback?

Main Point: Be willing to go backwards to move forward.

Talk-it-Out: Pastor Kevin reminded us that you have to face your problems in order to fix them. Joseph’s setbacks were an arrangement for his comeback, moving him from being in prison to the palace. What step(s) back do you think you might need to take in order to move forward? (Unlearn what you’ve learned, go to Growth Track, go back to school . . .)

Main Point: Have faith in your setbacks that you’re not being held back.

Talk-it-Out: There is something about setbacks that position us for a comeback. Genesis 39:2 says that the Lord prospered Joseph while he was being held prisoner. Talk about what your comeback could look like. What do you think God is doing in the middle of your setback?

WRITE-IT-OUT

Write out how God spoke to you in this week’s message, then re-read the story of Joseph and write out your desired comeback.

LIVE-IT-OUT

This week, re-read the story of Joseph and remind yourself that God is working all things out for your good no matter the circumstance.

CLOSING THOUGHTS
