Open YouVersion and take turns reading: John 2:1–3, John 2:4–5, John 2:6–10
Main points from this week's message:
Making Room for a Miracle
Main Point: We can’t make miracles happen, but we can make room in our mind for miracles to happen.
Talk-it-Out: Mary seemed to ignore Jesus and continued to set him up to perform his first miracle. In her mind, she saw a miracle in the making. What miracle, no matter how small, are you believing God for?
Main Point: There are possibilities waiting to be named and circumstances waiting to be changed.
Talk-it-Out: Pastor Kevin told us to start looking around for possibilities waiting to be named and circumstances waiting to be changed. Have you or someone you know been robbed of their faith, their joy, and the life God meant for you or them to live? What do you need restored in your life?
Main Point: Miracles start with the people who follow the path of possibility.
Talk-it-Out: We’ve been called to be initiators of possibilities. Mary saw the possibility for a miracle, even though wine making didn’t look like a necessary miracle. The only reason there was a miracle is because she initiated it. What can we do to open our minds and eyes to the opportunities for miracles that are around us every day?
Main Point: Part of making room is saying yes to things you’ve said no to in the past.
Talk-it-Out: Mary looked at the servants and simply said, “Do whatever he tells you to do.” What has God told you to do that you haven’t yet done? (serving, giving, praying, etc.)
WRITE-IT-OUT
Journal about what you are believing God for during this coming season and begin to believe God for the possibilities.
LIVE-IT-OUT
This week, begin to speak out the dreams you’ve had. Begin to claim your miracle. Go back to where you said no to something and imagine the possibility for a breakthrough.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Finish group with prayer requests and praise reports.
“It is a dangerous business to arrive in eternity with possibilities which one himself has prevented from being actualities. Possibility is a hint from God. A person must follow it. If God does not want it then let him hinder it. The person must not hinder it himself.”
—Soren Kierkegaard (1848)
