HOSTS
Make sure to start off with prayer. Open up group with this icebreaker:
Are your Christmas decorations up? Share with your group what you’re doing to decorate your home this Christmas.
TALK-IT-OUT
Open YouVersion and take turns reading: 1 Samuel 17:41-50, Philippians 4:6, 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Main points from this week's message: Whatever fight you face, God created you and I to be fighters!
Main Point: Most of the battle is won before you even step onto the battlefield.
Talk-it-Out: What fight are you going through right now? (Relational, Financial, Physical, etc?)
Main Point: There are three things Pastor Jodi said will make you an overcomer in every area of your life. First, you fight with prayer.
Talk-it-Out: David was a man of prayer. Prayer was already a habit in his life. Is prayer a habit in your life? What do you think keeps you from making this a habit, or share what you’ve done to create a habit of prayer?
Main Point: David was a man of powerful, confident, and encouraging words.
Talk-it-Out: We all have those voices in our head that say we are not equipped to face our giants. Pastor Jodi shared her daily affirmations that she uses to build herself up: I am fantastic, I am Godly, I am flawed, yet God’s grace is sufficient and thorough, I am made whole and holy in God’s love.
What can you do, what words could you say to encourage yourself and others?
Main Point: David was a man of Faith.
Talk-it-Out: Your faith determines your fight. David ran toward the giant when others ran away. Just like David, we are being prepared to win. What battles have you already fought and won?
Main Point: Focus on the Positive, Affirm yourself, Imagine God doing something good, Trust God in everything, Hope for the best
Talk-it-Out: What action can you take using the F.A.I.T.H. acronym to encourage yourself to win whatever battle comes your way?
WRITE-IT-OUT
Write out positive affirmations, and faith words about yourself and read them aloud every day until you believe them.
LIVE-IT-OUT
This week, speak life into your future. Speak life into someone else’s future. Encourage someone with your faith and words. And, above all, pray for victory in your battle.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Finish group with prayer requests and praise reports.
